Chapter 10 - Dawn Over the Cliffs

Three years later.

The sun rose over the Long Island cliffs, casting a brilliant, golden glow across a sprawling estate that no longer felt like a silent museum. Laughter echoed through the marble hallways—the bright, high-pitched giggle of a three-year-old boy chasing a golden retriever across the drawing-room rug.

Leo Rossi was running on strong, steady legs, his dark curls bouncing with every step as he chased the dog toward the French doors that led out to the garden.

"Leo! Don't track mud on the Persian rug!" a warm, cheerful voice called out from the kitchen.

Hunter stepped out into the hallway, wearing a light summer dress, her hair tied back in a loose ribbon. Her skin had a healthy glow, and the shadows of her past grief had long since faded, replaced by the quiet confidence of a woman who was cherished, safe, and deeply loved.

From the study doorway, Lorenzo leaned against the frame, watching her with a soft, possessive smile that the underworld would never believe belonged to the ruthless syndicate boss. He wore a simple white button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, looking every bit the family man he had fought so hard to become.

Hunter walked over to him, wrapping her arms around his waist as he pulled her close, resting his chin gently on the top of her head.

"He's getting too fast," Hunter murmured, smiling as Leo crashed into the living room sofa with the puppy barking happily beside him.

"He gets that from his mother," Lorenzo replied, pressing a soft kiss into her hair. "Stubborn, fast, and impossible to stop."

Hunter tilted her head up, catching his gaze with a playful smirk. "And what does he get from his father?"

Lorenzo smiled down at her, his dark eyes shining with a warmth and devotion that had replaced all the cold marble and gunsmoke of their past. He reached down, intertwining his fingers with hers, showing the gold band that gleamed brightly on her left ring finger.

"He gets a family," Lorenzo whispered, pulling her in for a deep, lingering kiss as the morning sun flooded the mansion with light. "And a home that will never be empty again."
