PART 8: The Sunlit Vows

Six months later, the autumn air crisp and golden over the Chicago skyline, the sprawling Kade estate on the outskirts of the city was alive with warmth, laughter, and the soft melody of acoustic music drifting across the manicured lawns.

The heavy iron gates, once guarded by an intimidating army of armed enforcers, now stood open wide, welcoming close friends, trusted medical colleagues from St. Jude Memorial, and selected community leaders from the South Side where Priya had grown up.

Inside the grand sunroom, overlooking a vibrant garden of blooming chrysanthemums, Priya stood before a full-length antique mirror, adjusting the delicate lace sleeves of her ivory wedding dress. Her dark hair was swept up in an elegant chignon, interwoven with tiny white jasmine blossoms, and resting gracefully against her collarbone was the gold key pendant Weston had given her in the hospital NICU.

The heavy oak door swung open softly, and her father stepped inside, his eyes shimmering with proud, emotional tears as he looked at his daughter.

"My goodness, Priya," her father choked out, walking over to take her hands in his calloused palms. "You look like an absolute queen."

"Thank you, Dad," Priya beamed, leaning her head against his shoulder. "Are the guests all seated?"

"Every single one of them," her father laughed softly. "And I have to say, looking out at that crowd of high-powered corporate executives mixed with our old neighbors from the neighborhood... Mr. Kade certainly knows how to throw a family gathering."

"He's a man of many talents," Priya smiled brightly, a deep sense of peace settling over her spirit.

Ten minutes later, the gentle strains of a cello began to play. Priya walked down the sunlit garden aisle on her father's arm, stepping across petals of white roses scattered along the grass.

At the altar, framed by a gorgeous archway of autumn foliage and white orchids, stood Weston. He wore a tailored charcoal tuxedo that accentuated his broad shoulders and commanding presence, but as his eyes locked onto Priya walking toward him, all the hardness of the underworld king melted away, replaced by an expression of pure, unfiltered adoration.

Standing right beside him in a miniature cream-colored linen suit was six-month-old Owen, held securely in the arms of Marcus, who proudly wore a red satin bow tie pinned to his tactical-free lapel. Owen spotted Priya coming down the aisle and let out a happy, high-pitched squeal, waving his tiny arms in the air.

Laughter rippled softly through the assembled guests.

When Priya reached the altar, Weston stepped forward, gently taking her hand from her father and kissing her knuckles tenderly before turning to face the officiant.

The ceremony was intimate, profound, and filled with a deep, unbreakable reverence for life, survival, and enduring love. When the time came for the vows, Weston looked deeply into Priya's eyes, his voice steady and resonant.

"When I met you, my world was crumbling into ash," Weston recited softly, holding her hands tightly. "You looked past the fear, the power, and the danger, and you fought for the heartbeat of my son. Today, you've given me a family, a home, and a future I never dared to dream of. I pledge my life, my heart, and my unconditional loyalty to you, Priya, for all our days."

Tears glistened in Priya's eyes as she smiled radiantly. "And I pledge my heart to you, Weston. To protect our family, to walk by your side through every storm, and to love you fiercely, today and always."

"By the power vested in me," the officiant smiled brightly, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Weston, you may kiss your bride."

Weston pulled Priya into his arms, dipping her slightly as he pressed a deep, passionate, and triumphant kiss to her lips.

The garden erupted into thunderous applause, cheers, and joyous laughter, while baby Owen clapped his little hands together in enthusiastic approval.
