Chapter 10 - A Brand New Horizon

Two years later.
The sun was setting over the hills of Austin, casting a golden glow across the terrace of my home. The garden was blooming with white roses and lavender, filling the evening air with a sweet scent.
Julian sat across from me on the patio sofa, reviewing expansion plans for our European division, while our close friends laughed near the pool. He looked up, smiling softly as he handed me a glass of wine.
“You’re quiet tonight, Maya,” he said gently.
“Just thinking,” I smiled, taking a sip. “About how far we’ve come.”

My phone chimed with a news notification. Evelyn was living in a small rented apartment, completely alienated by the social circles she used to dominate.
I turned off the screen and placed the phone face down on the table. Their actions were a distant chapter in a book I had long since finished reading.

They belonged entirely to me.
