Chapter 10 - A Happily Ever After

One year later, on Daniel’s thirty-ninth birthday, we hosted the dinner at our own house.
The dining room was filled with laughter, the clinking of glasses, and the warm, golden glow of candlelight. There were no tense silences, no whispered insults, and no cold hallway doors.
Patricia sat at our dining table, laughing as Mason recounted a funny story about his high school track team, while Harold carved the birthday roast at the side table. Across from them sat Chloe, chatting happily with me about her college application plans.
And at the center of it all, sitting right beside Daniel in her favorite blue dress, was Lily.
As Daniel blew out the candles on his chocolate cake, Lily stood up on her chair and yelled, “Make a wish, Daddy!”
Daniel smiled, looking around the table at his parents, his children, and his wife. He didn't need to close his eyes to make a wish, because everything he had ever dreamed of was already sitting right in front of him.

“I don't need to wish for anything,” Daniel said, wrapping his arm around Lily and pulling her close, while I rested my hand gently on his shoulder. “I already have everything I’ll ever need right here.”
The room erupted into cheers and applause, marking the true beginning of a family bound not by paper or blood, but by the unbreakable ties of unconditional love.
