Chapter 10 - The Warmth of Tomorrow

A year later, the farmhouse was filled with the sound of laughter and small, hurried footsteps.

Nora’s mother had made a remarkable recovery, her health stabilized by the proper medical care she received. She sat in a rocking chair on the porch, a bright blanket over her lap, watching Liam chase a golden retriever puppy around the yard, making their one-year-old daughter, Maya, giggle uncontrollably from her stroller.

Nora stood at the kitchen window, watching her family. The nightmare that had started with an $8,000 accusation and a freezing balcony felt like a lifetime ago, a distant shadow that had no power over their present joy.

She walked out onto the porch, carrying a tray of fresh sweet bread—made perfectly, just the way her family loved it.

Liam caught her eye and walked over, sweaty from running, a brilliant, happy smile on his face. He wrapped his arms around her waist, mindful of the tray, and leaned down to kiss her deeply.

"I love you," he whispered against her lips.

"I love you too," Nora replied, her heart completely whole.

The ring on her finger caught the afternoon sun, shining brightly. The frost had long since melted, replaced by a love that had been tested in the darkest night and emerged stronger, warmer, and unbreakable. They had finally found their happily ever after.
