Chapter 10 - A New Dawn for the Carvalhos
The silence returned to the mansion, but this time, it wasn't the heavy, suffocating silence of grief. It was the quiet, peaceful silence of a storm that had finally passed.
Thiago turned to Clara. "I am the one who should apologize. I watched you on those cameras because I was terrified of losing the only piece of my wife I had left. But you didn't just protect Alice. You brought her back to life."
He took Clara's hands in his. "I want you to stay. Not as a cleaner. I want to fund the rest of your physical therapy degree. And I want to hire you as Alice's official, full-time private therapist. We will pay you what you deserve, and you will never have to worry about rent again."
Clara stared at him, her eyes wide with shock, before she broke into a bright, tearful smile. "Thank you, Thiago. Thank you."
One Year LaterThe São Paulo mansion was no longer a museum of pain. The curtains were drawn wide, letting the bright Brazilian sun flood the rooms. The sound of children's music playing softly replaced the silence.
On the living room floor, Alice—now almost two years old—stood unsteadily on her feet, holding onto Clara's hands.
"Look, Thiago! Look!" Clara called out, her face glowing with pride.
Thiago came running from his study. He froze at the doorway.
Clara slowly let go of Alice’s tiny hands. The little girl wobbled for a second, balancing on her own two feet. She looked up at her father, her brown eyes—Fernanda's eyes—sparkling with pure determination.
With a joyful giggle, Alice took one small, shaky step forward, then another, straight into Thiago’s waiting, outstretched arms.

Thiago gathered his daughter close, burying his face in her hair, weeping tears of pure, unadulterated joy. He looked up at Clara, who was watching them with tears of her own. He reached out and took Clara’s hand, pulling her into the embrace.
The broken family was whole again. Life had taken so much from them, but in the ruins of their tragedy, they had found the strength to stand, together.
