Chapter 10 - Happily Ever After

The wedding was small, elegant, and filled with genuine joy—a stark contrast to the cold, formal galas Evan used to host in his corporate days. It took place right in the garden of the Roth estate, under a canopy of blooming white roses and autumn leaves.
There were no press cameras, no stiff corporate associates, and no critical relatives like Elena, who had long since retreated from their lives out of sheer embarrassment.
Instead, the ceremony was surrounded by the people who mattered most.
Aaron and Simon stood proudly at the altar as co-best men. They didn't need wheelchairs, braces, or crutches to stand beside their father. With steady legs and glowing smiles, they held the velvet ring box between them, their posture straight and strong.
When the minister pronounced Evan and Rachel husband and wife, the applause that erupted wasn't polite and restrained—it was bursting with life, laughter, and cheers.
As Evan leaned down to kiss his bride, Aaron and Simon let out a playful cheer, tossing a shower of rose petals over the newlywed couple.
The reception that followed was a celebration of everything they had overcome. The massive rehabilitation wing on the west side of the mansion had been converted into a bright, sprawling art and music studio for the boys, symbolizing a permanent shift from clinical sterility to vibrant living.
Later that evening, as the stars twinkled brightly across the night sky, Evan and Rachel stood on the grand balcony, watching over the sleeping estate.
Evan wrapped his arms gently around Rachel’s waist, pulling her close against his chest. He rested his chin on her shoulder, breathing in the familiar, comforting scent of lavender and home.
“Did you ever imagine, on that first day when I found you on the playroom floor, that we’d end up here?” Evan whispered against her ear.
Rachel smiled, resting her hands over his. “I knew the moment I saw the fear in your eyes that you needed healing just as much as the boys did. I just had to show you how to let go.”
Evan kissed the side of her head, feeling a deep, abiding peace settle into his soul. The nightmare of the crash was finally behind them, replaced by a future built on courage, trust, and unconditional love.

Down in the hallway, the house was warm, quiet, and vibrantly alive.
They had finally come home.
