Chapter 10 - The Bright Horizon

The sun rose the next morning over a brilliant, clear Boston sky.

I stood on the front steps of the Beacon Hill townhouse, holding Lily’s hand as we prepared to head home. The air was crisp, carrying the unmistakable scent of autumn and new beginnings.

Lily looked up at me, her eyes wide and bright, wearing her favorite yellow dress—the very same one she had worn on that fateful day at Melissa’s house.

"Mom?" Lily asked innocently. "Are we going to the hospital today to visit the kids?"

I smiled, squeezing her small hand tightly.

"We sure are, sweetheart," I said, looking out at the city stretching before us, full of light, promise, and endless hope. "We have lives to help, and a whole world to make better."

And as we walked down the stone steps together, hand in hand, I knew that no matter what storms lay ahead, our foundation was built on love, courage, and truth—a foundation that nothing in this world could ever shake.
