Chapter 9 - The Hannah Bennett Foundation
On the anniversary of Hannah Bennett’s birth, Lucas and Lily officially launched the Hannah Bennett Foundation for Children and Healthcare. Funded by the recovered sixty-five million dollar trust and an equal matching contribution from Lucas’s personal fortune, the foundation opened a state-of-the-art pediatric hospital and research center in Cicero—the very neighborhood where Hannah had worked as a nurse.
The opening ceremony drew thousands of citizens, community leaders, and healthcare workers. A towering bronze statue of Hannah Bennett stood at the entrance of the hospital, depicting her in her nursing uniform holding a warm lantern of hope.
