Chapter 9 - The Promise of Tomorrow

Our wedding was not a massive corporate affair, but a beautiful, intimate gathering of the people who truly mattered.

We held it in a restored glass greenhouse on the outskirts of the city, surrounded by blooming white roses and warm, golden fairy lights. Maya was my maid of honor, looking radiant and proud, and even a few of our close colleagues from Cole Industries were there.

As I walked down the aisle, my arm slipped through Maya’s, my eyes were locked entirely on Ethan. He stood at the altar, looking incredibly handsome in his tuxedo, but the expression on his face was what made my heart swell. He wasn't the distant, cold CEO anymore. He was the man who loved us with every fiber of his being, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.

Sophie, dressed in a tiny white flower-girl dress, toddled down the aisle ahead of me, dropping rose petals with joyful abandon. When she reached Ethan, he knelt down, scooped her up in his arms, and held her as he waited for me.

The ceremony was filled with laughter, tears, and a deep, profound sense of peace.

When it came time for the vows, Ethan looked at me, holding my hands while Sophie sat happily on Maya’s lap nearby.

"Clara," Ethan said, his voice thick with emotion. "I spent my life building walls to keep the world out, believing that independence was the ultimate strength. But you showed me that true strength lies in vulnerability, in standing up for those we love, and in opening our hearts to the unexpected. I promise to cherish you, to support your dreams, to stand by you in every storm, and to love you and Sophie with everything I have, for the rest of my days."

May you like

"Ethan," I replied, my voice shaking with happiness. "A year ago, I was lost in the dark, praying for a miracle. I dialed a wrong number, but I found the right man. You saved my daughter, but more than that, you saved my faith in the world. You showed me what true love looks like—patient, kind, and fiercely protective. I promise to walk beside you, to laugh with you, to grow with you, and to build a home filled with warmth, light, and endless love."

As the minister pronounced us husband and wife, Ethan pulled me close, pressing his lips to mine in a kiss that sealed our promise. The applause of our friends and family washed over us, a beautiful symphony celebrating the love that had triumphed over every obstacle.
