Chapter 10 - The Melody That Remained

Years passed, and the world outside continued to spin forward at its usual frantic pace.
Technology evolved, empires rose and fell, and Nathaniel Brooks remained one of the most successful innovators of his generation. But no matter how busy his boardrooms became, no matter how many billions of dollars his projects generated, his calendar always had one immovable entry.
Every Tuesday afternoon, without fail, Nathaniel’s car would pull up to Saint Augustine Medical Center.
He wouldn't go to the ICU anymore. Instead, he would walk down to the newly built pediatric wing, carrying a small box of fresh crayons and a sketchbook.
There, he would find Lily—now growing up fast, a bright, cheerful student with a brilliant mind and an artistic soul—waiting for him at a small wooden table by the window.
They wouldn't talk about corporate takeovers or encryption keys or medical miracles. They would talk about school, about cats, and about how much yellow a picture of the sun really needed.

And sometimes, when the afternoon sunlight filtered through the tall windows in thin white bars, Nathaniel would softly hum a little tune. Not because he was lost in the dark, but because he wanted to remember the exact moment the light found its way back in.
He never forgot that miracles didn't always arrive in blinding flashes of light or dramatic medical breakthroughs. Sometimes, they arrived quietly, wearing a bright green dress, carrying a glittery backpack, and singing a song that could wake a sleeping world.
