Chapter 10 - A New Dawn at the Greenwich Estate
Three months later, the autumn leaves had turned to brilliant shades of gold and amber across the expansive grounds of the Greenwich estate. The air was crisp, carrying the scent of woodsmoke and blooming chrysanthemums.
Inside the grand living room, soft laughter filled the air.
Victoria sat in the armchair by the fireplace, cradling our healthy, smiling son—whom we officially named Leo Carter—while watching him stretch his tiny fingers toward the sunlight. Across the room, Lily sat at a polished mahogany desk, diligently working on her homework under the gentle guidance of a private tutor. Her grandmother, fully recovered after undergoing a successful heart valve replacement surgery funded by my personal medical foundation, was resting comfortably in the estate's private guest suite upstairs.
I walked into the room, carrying a fresh cup of coffee, and paused by the doorway to take in the scene. The echoing silence of the large house that had defined my life for so many years was now replaced by the vibrant, messy, beautiful sounds of a real family.
Lily looked up from her books, her hazel eyes sparkling with intelligence and mischief, and flashed me the exact same worried expression I often caught myself making in the mirror.
"Mr. Carter," Lily called out with a bright smile, "do I have to finish my math before I can hold Leo again?"

I chuckled, walking over and placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Finish your math first, Lily. But I promise, as soon as your tutor gives the green light, Leo is all yours."
Victoria looked up at me, her hand resting softly over mine as Leo let out a happy gurgle, his piercing gray-blue eyes catching the morning light. We had survived the storms of corporate greed, the shadows of the past, and the bitter cold of abandonment. But out of the darkness, an unexpected knock on a rainy Sunday had brought us everything we never knew we were missing, sealing our family together forever in a truly happy ending.
