Chapter 10 - A New Dawn at the Mansion

One year after the day Camila stopped me in the hallway, the Vance mansion hosted a celebration unlike any it had seen in its fifty-year history.

It wasn't a corporate gala for venture capitalists or an art auction for high society. It was an estate appreciation dinner. The grand dining room was set with the finest crystal and silver, but the people sitting in the high-backed chairs were the twelve employees of the household, along with their families.

Marcus was there, raising a glass to the staff. My mother sat at the center of the table, laughing out loud at a story Elena was telling about a kitchen disaster from five years ago.

I stood near the grand marble archway where the confrontation had taken place, a glass of champagne in my hand, looking in at the warmth filling the room. The contracts I had signed over the past year had brought in billions of dollars, but the true wealth of my life was contained within those four walls.

A small figure stepped up beside me. Camila, now ten years old, was wearing a beautiful green dress my mother had bought her for the occasion. Her braids were perfectly even, and she carried herself with the confidence of a young woman who knew she belonged.

"You’re not working tonight, Mr. Julian?" she asked, leaning against the marble pillar.

"No, Camila," I smiled down at her. "No contracts tonight. Just family."

She looked into the dining room, watching her mother laugh as Marcus poured her another glass of wine. "My mom’s hands don't hurt anymore," she said quietly, her voice full of a deep, earned contentment. "She doesn't have to clean until midnight. And she smiles every morning when she wakes up."

I reached down and gently patted her shoulder. "That’s because she has a daughter who looked a billionaire in the eye and demanded justice. You changed everything, Camila."

She looked up at me, a brilliant, beautiful smile spreading across her face. "We did it together."

As the sounds of laughter and music spilled out from the dining room into the California night, the mansion finally felt like home. The shadows of betrayal had been entirely burned away, replaced by a foundation of trust, respect, and a bond that could never be broken. The truth had shaken my family, but in the end, it had saved our souls.
