Chapter 10 - A New Chapter

Three years have passed since that unforgettable Christmas at The Grand Azure.
The estate is no longer an isolated monument of wealth. It has become the heartbeat of our family’s existence. Every summer, every Thanksgiving, and every single Christmas, the twelve bedrooms are filled to capacity with laughter, bickering, late-night board games, and the patter of running feet down the grand marble hallways.
Ethan left his corporate firm two years ago to launch his own sustainable architecture consultancy, finding a balance between professional success and genuine family life. Bianca and I share a warm, affectionate bond that survived the dismantling of her mother’s high-society pretensions—Eleanor, as it turns out, turned out to be a wonderful grandmother who now happily joins me in baking Christmas cookies every December.
As for Noah, he is eleven years old now, a tall, bright-eyed boy who spends his school holidays surfing off the private Palm Beach path and reading adventure novels in the estate’s mahogany-paneled library.
And me? I still keep my old apartment in the city as a quiet writing studio, but my true home is here, surrounded by the people I love.
Yesterday evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon and painted the Atlantic in shades of violet and gold, I walked out onto the back veranda with my familiar chipped white coffee mug in hand.
Ethan walked up beside me, handing me a fresh sweater against the evening breeze. We stood in comfortable silence for a long moment, watching the waves roll gently onto the sand.
“Are you happy, Mom?” he asked quietly, slipping his arm through mine.
May you like
I took a sip of my coffee, feeling the warm Florida breeze catch the edges of my silver hair, and smiled out at the endless horizon.
“I have never been happier, my son,” I said. “The house is finally full.”
