Chapter 10 - Happily Ever After

The wedding was not a grand, pretentious affair of high society, but a celebration of warmth, family, and survival.
It was held on the sprawling lawn of our estate, under a canopy of twinkling fairy lights and blooming white roses. Maya and Lily served as our flower girls, wearing matching pastel dresses and scattering petals with the utmost solemnity before giggling uncontrollably at the altar.

When Julian leaned down to kiss me, the applause from our friends, Mrs. Gable, and our legal team echoed across the garden. But more than the applause, I felt the deep, enduring warmth of a family built from the ashes of tragedy.
That night, as the stars twinkled overhead and the girls finally drifted off to sleep in their beds upstairs, Julian and I stood on the balcony overlooking the vast, peaceful lawn.

"Penny for your thoughts, Mrs. Vance," he murmured softly.
I leaned back against his chest, smiling into the warm summer breeze, knowing that no matter what winter ever brought again, we would always be safe.

"I was just thinking," I whispered, turning in his arms to look into his loving eyes, "that sometimes, the best things in life find you when you're freezing in the dark."
Julian smiled, kissing my forehead tenderly. "And sometimes, little girls know the truth long before adults are brave enough to admit it."
