Chapter 6 - A Different Kind of Justice

"I don't want your money, Adrian, and I don't want to see you in a prison cell," Benjamin said firmly, helping his former friend back to his feet. "Prisons are for people who can't be reformed. You’ve spent sixteen years punishing yourself, torturing your soul behind the walls of a golden cage."

Adrian looked at him in disbelief, wiping his face with the back of his sleeve. "Then why bring me here? Why reveal yourself now?"

"Because Leo needs a future, and Foster Global Industries needs a conscience," Benjamin replied, gesturing back toward the town car where his son sat watching them through the tinted window. "I’ve spent the last sixteen years living quietly under an assumed name in the Pacific Northwest, building sustainable community housing and clean water systems. I didn't need your wealth to find happiness, Adrian. But the world needs your resources to fix what's broken."

Benjamin reached into his coat and pulled out a stack of clean, unburned documents—patent filings, environmental project proposals, and an amended partnership agreement bearing today's date.

"We started this company together to change renewable energy technology," Benjamin continued, his eyes bright with conviction. "The fire destroyed our office, but it didn't destroy our ideas. It's time to finish what we started—not as rivals, and not in secret, but together."

Adrian stared at the papers in utter shock. The bitterness, the resentment, and the fear that had poisoned his life for nearly two decades suddenly evaporated, replaced by an overwhelming wave of grace he knew he didn't deserve.

"You're offering me a second chance?" Adrian asked, his voice cracking with emotion.

"I'm offering you redemption," Benjamin smiled faintly. "Which is much harder work than guilt."
