THE SECRET LEFT IN ROOM 307 / Chapter 1 / 3

Chapter 1: The Midnight Call

The ringing of his phone shattered the silence of the night.

Ethan sat upright in bed, his heart pounding.

“Is this Ethan Carter?” a woman's voice asked urgently.

“Yes. Who is this?”

“This is Central City Hospital. Emma Wilson has been admitted in critical condition. You need to come immediately.”

Before he could ask another question, the call ended.

Twenty minutes later, Ethan rushed through the hospital entrance. The bright white lights and the smell of disinfectant filled him with dread.

“Where is Emma?” he asked the nurse at the reception desk.

The nurse looked at him carefully.

“Are you family?”

“I’m her fiancé.”

The nurse hesitated before leading him down a long corridor.

When Ethan entered Room 307, his breath caught in his throat.

Emma lay motionless on the hospital bed. Her face was pale, and a bruise was visible near her temple.

He grabbed her hand.

“Emma... what happened to you?”

Before anyone could answer, a young doctor approached him.

“She was conscious for a few moments before she collapsed. She left something for you.”

The doctor handed him a sealed envelope.

With trembling hands, Ethan opened it.

Inside was a crumpled piece of paper with a single sentence written across it:

"Don't trust Ryan. He knows everything."

Ethan froze.

Ryan was his best friend.

The same friend who had brought Emma to the hospital that night.

And suddenly, nothing made sense anymore
