Chapter 7 - The Healing of Pedrito

Over the next forty-eight hours, the hospital room transformed from a place of mourning into a theater of miracles.
Every six hours, a small dose of the unusual water was administered to Pedrito. With each passing hour, the synthetic toxin Viper-X, which was supposed to be completely irreversible, was systematically neutralized and flushed from his system. The medical staff watched in absolute awe as the boy's organ functions returned to 100%.
By the morning of the fourth day—the day that was supposed to be the beginning of the end—Pedrito slowly opened his eyes.
The bright morning sun streamed through the hospital window, casting a warm, golden glow across the room. Rodrigo and Clara were holding hands by his bedside, exhausted but hyper-vigilant.
"Papi..." a tiny, soft voice whispered.
Rodrigo jolted awake, his heart leaping into his throat. Pedrito was looking at him, his big brown eyes clear, focused, and full of life. The heavy fog of the coma was entirely gone.
"Pedrito! Oh, my beautiful boy!" Clara wept, gently leaning down to kiss his forehead, careful not to disturb the remaining IV lines.
"I had a dream," Pedrito murmured, his small voice gaining strength. "I was lost in a dark forest, and a bad lady locked me in a car. But then, a girl with a golden bottle poured rain on me, and the forest turned into a beautiful garden."
Rodrigo fell to his knees, burying his face in the mattress, weeping tears of profound relief and gratitude. The nightmare was over. His son was alive.
Dr. Flores entered the room a few minutes later to run the final blood panels. When the results came back from the lab, the doctor looked up, his eyes wide with amazement. "It’s completely gone. There isn't a single trace of the toxin, nor any cellular damage left behind. He has the liver and kidneys of a perfectly healthy three-year-old. This defies everything I have ever learned in my thirty years of medicine."
"It wasn't medicine, Santiago," Rodrigo said, looking at the now-empty golden plastic bottle on the shelf. "It was something much older, and much purer."

Meanwhile, justice was swift. Viviana Acevedo was formally arrested and charged with attempted murder, corporate espionage, and grand embezzlement. The digital evidence secured by Rodrigo's security team was airtight. She was facing life in a maximum-security prison, her wealth stripped away, and her name completely erased from the family legacy.
But Rodrigo and Clara knew their true work was just beginning. They had a massive debt of gratitude to repay.
