Chapter 10 - The Happy Ending

The flashing red and blue lights of local police cruisers illuminated the Westchester trees, though by the time the authorities arrived, Dominic and his men had already been securely zip-tied and loaded into the back of an unmarked Moretti transport van destined for federal custody through anonymous tips.

Emma lowered her hands from her face, looking up at Alessandro with wide, admiring eyes. "Did the bad men go away?"
Alessandro knelt down on one knee, smiling warmly as he pulled a small, wrapped chocolate bar from his pocket—a rare treat he always kept on hand—and handed it to her. "They went very far away, Emma. And they are never coming back."
