Chapter 10 - The Table Set for Three

One year later.
The atmosphere inside Romano’s restaurant was lively and warm. The scent of fresh basil, roasted garlic, and simmering marinara filled the air. But tonight, the main dining room was completely closed to the public.
A single table had been set in the center of the room. This time, it was set for three.
A candle burned brightly between plates filled with beautiful, authentic Carbonara. A bottle of Chianti rested in a silver bucket, alongside a tall glass of fresh apple juice.
Vincent Torino sat in his usual chair, wearing a perfectly tailored dark suit. But he wasn't looking at his watch. He wasn't irritated, and he wasn't lonely. He was laughing as he watched Sophie, now eight years old and wearing a beautiful, spotless white dress, trying to twirl spaghetti onto her fork with hilarious intensity.
Across from him sat Elena. She looked radiant, her dark hair falling softly around her shoulders, wearing a stunning green dress that matched her eyes perfectly. The scars on her abdomen had healed, replaced by the vibrant glow of a woman who was deeply loved and completely secure.
Maria Benedetto walked out of the kitchen, placing a fresh basket of warm, crusty bread on the table. She looked at Vincent, then at Elena and Sophie, a proud, knowing smirk on her face. "Everything looks perfect tonight, Vincent. No waiting?"
"No waiting, Maria," Vincent smiled, reaching across the table to take Elena's hand, his fingers intertwining with hers. "Everyone who matters is already here."
Sophie finally managed a perfect bite of pasta, popping it into her mouth with a triumphant grin. "Look, Daddy Vincent! I did it!"
Vincent's heart swelled at the name. It had taken months of patience, bedtime stories, and school pick-ups in armored sedans, but he had earned it. He was no longer just the boss of the city; he was a husband, a protector, and a father.
"Perfect technique, sweetheart," Vincent told her, his eyes twinkling with warmth. He looked back at Elena, raising his glass of wine. "To unexpected arrivals."

Elena clinked her glass against his, her smile filled with a profound happiness that outshone the candlelight. "To the blind date that finally made it."
Outside, the city hummed its usual busy tune, but inside Romano's, the shadows had completely faded, replaced by the enduring, bright light of a family born from courage, protected by loyalty, and bound forever by love.
