Chapter 6 - The Gathering Storm

It was a rainy Tuesday evening when Vincent received a call on his private line. It was Marco.
"Boss, we have a problem," Marco said, his voice laced with an urgency that immediately put Vincent on high alert. "One of our informants inside the Marcone camp just spilled. Donato knows about the townhouse. He knows about Carmen and Isabella. He’s sent a hit squad. They left twenty minutes ago."
Vincent’s blood ran cold, turning to pure ice. "How many?"
"At least eight men, heavily armed. They’re treating it as a kidnapping operation, Boss. They want leverage over you."
"Get the men," Vincent commanded, his voice dropping to a register that terrified even Marco. "Assemble the full heavy unit. Meet me at the townhouse. If a single hair on their heads is harmed, I will burn this city to the ground with Donato inside it."
Vincent slammed the phone down and looked at his driver, Leo. "Drive. Break every law on the books. Get us to the townhouse."
The sedan roared to life, tires screeching against the wet asphalt as it tore through the city streets. Inside, Vincent checked his firearm, his mind racing. He had spent his life operating on logic, strategy, and calculated ruthlessness. But right now, he wasn't thinking like a don. He was thinking like a man whose home was being violated.

He remembered Isabella’s laugh. He remembered Carmen’s tearful gratitude. They had trusted him. He had promised them safety, and he would die before he broke that promise.
"Faster, Leo!" Vincent growled as the raindrops lashed against the windshield like a warning.
