True to his word, Victor Vance tore through Mark’s professional life like a hurricane. Stripped of his partnership at the firm, Mark was formally indicted on multiple counts of corporate fraud, embezzlement, and industrial espionage. His bank accounts were seized, his luxury car was repossessed by the bank, and even his personal credit score was completely demolished. He tried calling and texting me dozens of times, begging for mercy, offering settlements, and claiming he was deeply remorseful—but I blocked his number on every single device without a second glance.
Vanessa fared no better. With Apex Solutions exposed as a fraudulent shell company, she faced parallel criminal charges for conspiracy and grand larceny. To make matters worse, several of her former colleagues came forward with evidence of workplace harassment, ensuring that she would never work in corporate finance or management again.

As for us, I filed for a rapid, uncontested divorce on the grounds of financial malfeasance and emotional endangerment. Because of the airtight evidence I had gathered and the federal investigation surrounding Mark, the judge granted me sole physical and legal custody of Lily, along with full ownership of our family home and a significant portion of the remaining uncontaminated marital assets recovered through court-ordered asset forfeiture.
Lily’s hair slowly began to grow back, soft and curly just like before. To celebrate her new hair growth and help her reclaim her confidence, I took her on a mother-daughter trip to a children's salon, where we bought her colorful headbands, sparkly hair clips, and celebrated her recovery with ice cream and balloons. Whenever she looked in the mirror and touched her growing curls, the shadow of fear in her eyes was entirely gone, replaced by the bright, joyful spirit of a happy five-year-old girl.
