Investigators uncovered a systematic pattern of falsifying prenatal risk assessments and forged carrier refusal forms across multiple surrogate cases, designed to protect high-profile clients from legal liability and social embarrassment. Dr. Hayes and the clinic administrator were arrested and charged with wire fraud, medical forgery, and conspiracy.
The Whitmore Family Foundation, facing insurmountable public backlash and impending criminal subpoenas, capitulated completely. They agreed to every single term demanded by Marcus Vance:

Rachel sat in her newly decorated living room on a warm Friday evening. The apartment was filled with soft pastel colors, educational toys, and specialized medical equipment tucked neatly into a corner.
The doorbell rang. Rachel walked over and opened it to find Marcus Vance standing on the porch, holding a bottle of sparkling cider and a thick manila envelope stamped with a gold seal.
"It’s official, Ms. Monroe," Vance announced with a wide grin, holding up the envelope. "The final adoption decree has been signed by Judge Sterling. Noah is legally, officially, and unconditionally yours."
Rachel pressed a hand to her mouth, letting out a breath she felt like she had been holding for nine months. "We did it."
"No, you did it," Vance corrected gently, handing her the official document. "You stood up to a corporate machine, fought through medical corruption, and refused to let society throw your son away."
Marcus stayed for dinner, celebrating the milestone with sparkling cider and homemade lasagna. As he left, he reminded Rachel that the civil restitution funds had successfully cleared into Noah’s trust account.

Rachel walked back into the nursery. Noah was awake, lying comfortably in his crib, staring up at the mobile of shining stars spinning slowly above him. She reached down, picked him up gently, and cradled him against her chest.
"We’re home, sweet boy," she whispered into his dark hair. "Just you and me."
