Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Horizon

Two years later, Apex Forwarding had become a national beacon of corporate success. Julian Vance was featured on the cover of leading business magazines, not just for his company’s incredible financial growth, but for his revolutionary approach to ethical capitalism and employee welfare.
It was New Year's Day once again.
Inside the bright, warm living room of Julian’s home, a large, beautifully decorated tree stood by the window, casting a warm glow over a room filled with true friends, laughter, and genuine family—including Leo, several close colleagues, and the families of the drivers who had supported them from day one.
There were plenty of gifts under the tree, but the atmosphere was completely different from the toxic display at Arthur’s house years ago. Here, the gifts were thoughtful, modest, and given with love.
Maya, now ten years old, sat on the rug, helping a younger child open a coloring book. On the mantelpiece above the fireplace sat her two most prized possessions: the beautifully carved wooden music box with the spinning horse, and right next to it, the old, faded plastic horse with the broken leg.
Julian had suggested throwing the broken toy away a long time ago, but Maya had insisted on keeping it. “It reminds me of how strong we are, Daddy,” she had told him. “And it reminds me that a broken start doesn't mean a broken ending.”
As the clock struck midnight, marking the beginning of another successful year, the guests cheered and toasted to the future.
Julian walked over to Maya, wrapping his arm around her shoulders as they looked out the window at the snow gently falling over the city.
"Happy New Year, Maya," Julian whispered.
"Happy New Year, Daddy," she replied, leaning her head against his side. She looked up at him, her eyes bright and filled with absolute security. "Do you think Grandpa ever learned how to fix things?"

Julian thought about his father, who now lived a quiet, anonymous life in his small condo, completely ignored by the business world he had once tried to dominate, living off a modest pension while his favorite daughter, Chloe, barely called him because he no longer had money to give her. Arthur had sought a legacy built on fear and wealth, and in the end, he was left with nothing but his own silence.
"I don't know, sweetheart," Julian said gently, looking back at the warm, laughing crowd in his living room, and then down at his brilliant, thriving daughter. "But we fixed what mattered. And that’s the only legacy that counts."
