Chapter 7 - Healing and Rebuilding

With the legal battles behind her, Nora threw herself entirely into her new role as the chairperson of Mae Bell Memorial Hospital (officially renamed in honor of her grandmother).
The transformation of the institution was nothing short of miraculous. Under her leadership, the toxic corporate culture fostered by the Vales was systematically dismantled. Transparency protocols were put in place, employee advocacy boards were established, and millions of dollars were funneled directly back into state-of-the-art pediatric care units and free community health clinics for underprivileged families across Kentucky and South Carolina.

"You know, the local medical journal is naming you Philanthropist of the Year," Tessa said with a warm smile, taking a sip from her cup. "They're calling you the modern pioneer of healthcare reform in the South."
Nora smiled faintly, wrapping her hands around the warm paper cup. "Titles don't matter much to me, Tess. I just wanted to make sure nobody ever has to go through what my grandmother—and what I—went through."

"You did more than that, Nora," Tessa said gently, placing a hand on her shoulder. "You dismantled an entire empire of corruption and built something genuinely good out of its ashes."
Nora looked out toward the horizon where the sun was beginning to dip below the water, painting the sky in brilliant shades of gold and amber. For the first time in her life, she felt a profound, unshakeable peace. The shadows of her past were gone, replaced by an unbreakable strength and a future entirely of her own making.
