Chapter 10 - A New Dynasty

Six months later.

The Rinaldi estate was no longer a war zone of destruction and chaos. It was a home.

In the grand garden overlooking the Hudson River, fairy lights twinkled in the trees as a warm autumn breeze swept across the lawn. Laughter echoed through the air—the bright, infectious giggles of two seven-year-old girls playing tag near the fountain.

Lucia Valente, wearing a pretty yellow dress, sprinted across the grass, chased by Marco, Nico, Alessandro, and Tommy, who had officially adopted her as their honorary sister and partner in minor mischief.

On the stone patio, Serena stood leaning against the balustrade, watching the children with a soft, content smile.

A pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind, pulling her back against a warm, familiar chest. A chin rested gently on her shoulder.

“You look like you’re plotting something,” Victor whispered, pressing a soft kiss to her temple.

Serena leaned back into his embrace, turning slightly to look up into his dark, affectionate eyes.

“I was just thinking about the day I walked up those front steps,” Serena smiled, resting her hands over his arms. “Thirty-six dollars in my pocket, a damp blazer, and a housekeeper who looked at me like I was walking to the gallows.”

“And you marched in like a general taking enemy territory,” Victor chuckled, tightening his hold around her. “The best investment I ever made.”

“You didn't hire me, Victor. You surrendered,” Serena corrected playfully.

“Happily,” Victor murmured, leaning down to capture her lips in a deep, tender kiss that erased every hard edge of his past and promised a bright, unbreakable future.
