Chapter 10 - THE LEGACY OF LILY AND TITAN

Five years later, in the summer of 2031, the Eleanor Cross Estate was hosting its annual Summer Gala for Children's Charities.
Hundreds of guests filled the sprawling, flower-filled gardens — families, doctors, community leaders, and children laughing and playing on the green lawns.
Near the central fountain stood a bronze statue, commissioned by the city to honor the estate's contribution to Chicago's renewal. The statue depicted a majestic Cane Corso dog lying peacefully on the grass, with a tiny girl sitting beside him, holding a small flower. At the base of the statue was an inscription carved into gold leaf:
“Love is the only force capable of turning an enemy into a friend, and a broken soul into a sanctuary.”
Lily, now eight years old, stood near the statue wearing a white summer dress. She was kneeling beside Titan, who was now an old dog, his muzzle dusted with white fur, but his eyes as bright, clear, and peaceful as ever. Lily was carefully placing a fresh daisy chain around Titan’s neck, just as she had done on the cold snow five years ago.
"There you go, old buddy," Lily giggled, patting his soft ears. "Now you look handsome for the party."
Titan gave a happy, lazy thud of his tail and rested his snout against her knee.
A few yards away, Nathaniel stood holding the hand of his and Clara's two-year-old son, Arthur, named not after the tyrant grandfather, but in honor of a new beginning for the family name. Clara stood beside Nathaniel, resting her head lovingly on his shoulder as they watched their children play in the sunshine.
Marcus trotted up, holding a camera. "Alright, everyone! Family photo time!"
Nathaniel, Clara, little Arthur, and Lily gathered around the bronze statue. Titan slowly stood up, shaking his big body, and trotted over to take his rightful place right in the middle of the family, lying down right at Nathaniel and Clara's feet.

Lily threw her arms around Titan’s neck, grinning broadly at the lens. Nathaniel pulled Clara close, kissing her cheek as the camera flashed, capturing the bright, beautiful moment.
The darkness of the past had completely dissolved, replaced by the warmth of love, redemption, and forgiveness. The broken dog had been healed, the buried secrets had brought truth to the world, and the little girl who showed no fear had given a former mob boss the greatest gift of all: a happy home, a true family, and a peaceful heart.
