Immediately following the criminal conviction, our attorney served Gordon and Brenda with the civil lawsuit for financial fraud regarding the fake mortgage payments.
Faced with undeniable banking records and the threat of an even more devastating civil trial that would publicly expose their theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars, Gordon and Brenda were forced to settle out of court.
The terms of the settlement were non-negotiable:
Full repayment of the $151,200 stolen under the guise of mortgage payments over seven years.
Liquidation of the trust fund created for Madison to cover the debt immediately.
The forced sale of the family house to liquidate assets, as Gordon could not afford the settlement out-of-pocket.
The day the "FOR SALE" sign went up in front of Gordon and Brenda’s house was a moment of poetic justice for the entire neighborhood. The house they had used as a weapon to control us, the house where they had declared “This is our home, our rules,” was being auctioned off to pay back the family they had abused.
