Chapter 7 - The Grand Opening & The VIP Moment
At 8:30 AM, a sleek black town car dispatched by Vance Holdings arrived at my front door.
Lily’s eyes were as wide as saucers as the driver, dressed in a sharp suit, opened the door for us. "Good morning, Miss Maya. Good morning, Miss Lily. Welcome to your VIP day."
"Mommy..." Lily whispered as she sank into the plush leather seat. "Are we rich?"
I laughed softly, holding her hand. "No, sweetie. Mommy just worked very hard for a very long time so that nobody could ever make you feel small again."
When we arrived at Wonderland Kingdom, the scene was entirely different from the day before.
The massive public parking lots were filled with thousands of waiting cars, but our driver bypassed all of them, pulling directly up to the grand executive entrance. Standing at the red carpet gates were the General Manager, the Assistant Manager, and four park staff members holding armfuls of custom merchandise, balloons, and a golden sash that read VVIP GUEST OF HONOR.
"Welcome to Wonderland Kingdom, Lily!" the General Manager beamed, bowing slightly. "The entire park is opened early just for you today."
For two full hours before the general public was allowed inside, Lily had the entire 200-acre park to herself.
She rode the giant roller coasters four times in a row without waiting in line. She met every single character, who bowed to her and gave her personalized signed books. She ate funnel cakes, cotton candy, and custom gourmet chocolates made by the park's master pastry chef.
I watched her from the side, taking photos, my heart swelling with a happiness so profound it made my eyes sting. For the first time in her life, Lily looked completely unburdened. She was beaming, laughing, and running from attraction to attraction with the pure, unadulterated joy that every eight-year-old deserved.

At 11:00 AM, as the main gates opened to the general public, Lily was sitting on a private balcony overlooking the main plaza, drinking a cold slushie, wearing a custom golden crown given to her by the park staff.
And that was when she saw them.
