Chapter 7 - The Wrath of the Falcon

The heavy oak door did not just open; it splintered inward with a deafening crash that shook the walls of the nursery.

Matteo stood in the doorway, a submachine gun raised, his face a mask of cold, lethal fury. Behind him stood three security guards, weapons drawn and locked onto the intruders. But it wasn't Matteo who terrified the men in the room.

It was Sebastiano Falco.

He stepped past Matteo into the room, his long charcoal overcoat billowing slightly behind him like the wings of a dark bird of prey. He had received Matteo’s encrypted alert midway through his drive back from the city and had driven through three red lights to get to the villa.

The air in the room dropped ten degrees in a single heartbeat. Sebastiano’s eyes were fixed entirely on the man whose hand was still wrapped around Elena’s arm.

The intruder froze, the color draining from his face as he recognized the man who had built an empire on blood and silence. "Falco... look, we were just — "

Sebastiano did not speak. He didn't need to. He moved with terrifying, blinding speed.

Before the man could raise his pistol, Sebastiano closed the distance between them, his fist connecting with the intruder's jaw with a sickening crack that echoed off the nursery walls. The man dropped like a stone, unconscious before he even hit the floor.

The second intruder tried to reach for his weapon, but Matteo and the guards swarmed him instantly, slamming him face-first against the pale yellow wall and disarming him in less than two seconds.

"Get them out of my sight," Sebastiano said, his voice a low, gravelly growl that sounded like grinding stones. "Take them to the basement. I’ll deal with them myself in ten minutes."

As the guards dragged the two struggling men out of the room, the nursery fell into a heavy, suffocating silence.

Sebastiano turned around. His chest rose and fell in slow, controlled breaths, but his hands were clenched so tightly into fists that his knuckles were stark white. His dark eyes swept the room until they landed on Elena and Bianca.

Elena was shaking violently, her arms still locked around her daughter, tears streaming silently down her face. Bianca was burying her face in her mother's neck, sobbing quietly.

Sebastiano crossed the room in two long strides. He didn't care about protocol, about distance, or about the quiet boundaries he had maintained for months. He reached out and pulled them both against him, wrapping his large, powerful arms around the mother and child in a protective cage that nothing in this world could penetrate.

"You're safe," he murmured, his voice rough and unsteady against the top of Elena's head. "I have you. Both of you. You are safe."

Elena clutched at the lapel of his coat, her whole body trembling as the adrenaline finally crashed, leaving her weak and boneless. "They... they came for us... because of us..."

"They came because they are cowards who thought they could strike at what I value," Sebastiano said, pulling them tighter. "That is my mistake. I left a loose end, and I will fix it permanently tonight."

He looked down at Bianca, gently stroking the back of the child's dark curls. "Bibi. Look at me, little one."

Bianca slowly lifted her tear-stained face from her mother's neck. Her big eyes looked up at him, filled with fear that was slowly giving way to relief.

"The bad men are gone," Sebastiano said softly, his voice fierce yet tender. "They will never, ever come back here. I promise you."

Bianca nodded, her small arms reaching out to wrap around his neck, burying her face against his shoulder just as she did with her mother. Sebastiano closed his eyes, a profound, overwhelming wave of emotion washing over him — a feeling of fierce, unyielding devotion that eclipsed everything else in his life.
