Chapter 10 - The Vows Under the Linden Tree

Two years later, the gardens of Villa Falco were draped in white silk and blooming roses under the warm summer sun.

There were no politicians, no syndicate bosses, and no cold-eyed enforcers in attendance. Only the loyal household staff, Cook beaming proudly from the front row with a massive tray of traditional Sicilian pastries, and a small, laughing girl in a white lace dress who was currently trying to pin a flower onto the groom's lapel.

Elena stood before the altar beneath the ancient linden tree, wearing a simple, elegant ivory gown that caught the afternoon light. Her dark hair was styled in soft braids, and her face radiated a peaceful, radiant joy that she had never known was possible.

Sebastiano waited for her, dressed in a sharp tailored suit, his usual cold, impenetrable aura replaced by the unmistakable warmth of a man who had finally found his true home.

When the minister pronounced them husband and wife, Sebastiano leaned down and kissed her softly, amid the joyful cheers of the staff and the delighted clapping of a five-year-old girl who ran up to wrap her arms around both of their legs.

Later that evening, as the stars came out over Grayhaven and music drifted out across the courtyard, Sebastiano pulled Elena close against his chest as they danced on the stone terrace.

"Are you happy, my love?" he whispered into her hair.

Elena looked up at him, her dark eyes shining with absolute contentment as she watched Bianca chase fireflies across the lawn.

May you like

"I never have to hide in small places again," she whispered, resting her head against his shoulder.

"Never," Sebastiano promised, tightening his arms around her. "You are home."
