Part 9: A Vow in the Sunroom

Two years later, the gardens of the Voss estate were alive with the vibrant colors of early summer. Roses bloomed in heavy, fragrant clusters along the stone pathways, and the morning air carried the sweet scent of damp earth and blossoming lilac.
Inside the grand sunroom on the east wing, preparations were underway for a quiet, private celebration. There were no press photographers, no underworld associates, and no politicians. Just a small circle of people who mattered—Fenwick Cole standing near the arched doorway with a quiet smile, and two little children running around in matching white linen clothes.
Ava, now eight years old, wore a delicate flower crown woven from fresh daisies in her dark hair. She carefully adjusted a small white boutonnière on the lapel of a tailored gray suit jacket.
"There! Perfect, Daddy," Ava announced proudly, stepping back to inspect her work.
Ronan looked down at his daughter, a soft, genuine smile breaking across his sharp features. He knelt down to adjust her sash. "Thank you, my little engineer. Do you think Elena is ready?"
"She's coming down right now! I saw her dress!" Eli chimed in, running over with his stuffed bear tucked under one arm.
At the top of the grand staircase, the heavy oak doors of the private quarters swung open.
Elena stepped out into the hallway.
She wore a simple, elegant ivory silk dress that fell in clean, fluid lines to the floor, without heavy lace or extravagant jewels. Her dark hair was styled in soft waves pinned back with a single silver hairpin, and her eyes shone with a quiet, radiant happiness.
Ronan stood at the bottom of the grand staircase, looking up.
For a second, time seemed to slow down, echoing that rainy afternoon two years ago when he had first walked through the front door and found her standing in the hall. But all the coldness, the shadows, and the ghosts of the past were gone, burned away by the life they had built together.
Elena descended the stairs slowly, her hand gliding lightly along the wooden banister. When she reached the bottom, Ronan stepped forward and offered his hand.
She placed her palm in his, her fingers locking securely with his grip.
"You look breathtaking," Ronan murmured, his voice thick with emotion.
"You clean up rather well yourself, Mr. Voss," Elena teased softly, a bright smile lighting up her face.

"Ronan," he reminded her with a raised eyebrow, drawing a soft laugh from her lips as they turned toward the sunroom where Fenwick and the children were waiting to celebrate the beginning of their forever.
The ceremony was simple, profound, and entirely their own. When Ronan slipped a plain platinum band onto Elena’s finger, he didn't just make her his wife—he cemented the foundation of a family forged from chaos, protected by loyalty, and sustained by an unshakeable, enduring love.
