Chapter 9 - The New Calloway Empire

Three months later, the spring thaw had finally arrived in Chicago, turning the gray concrete and ice into vibrant green parks and blooming flower beds.
At Calloway Global headquarters on the forty-eighth floor, Martin Ellery walked into Grant’s office holding a thick leather-bound portfolio.
“Mr. Calloway,” Martin said respectfully. “The Singapore restructuring is complete. We recovered ninety percent of the debt exposure, and the new Asian market strategy is outperforming projections by twelve percent.”
Grant stood at the glass wall, looking down at the sun-drenched Chicago River. He wasn't wearing his usual cold, impenetrable expression. There was a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
“Good work, Martin,” Grant said without turning around. “Take the rest of the week off. Spend it with your family.”
Martin blinked in surprise. “Thank you, sir. Oh, and by the way... the press is outside asking for a statement regarding your new philanthropic foundation for orphaned children and single-parent families.”
“Tell them the foundation is called The Olivia Trust,” Grant said quietly. “And tell them no interviews today. I have to pick someone up from school.”

When Martin closed the door, Grant picked up his car keys and strode toward the private elevator.
