Chapter 10 - The Blueprint of Happiness

The annual charity gala for the Whitmore Foundation for Pediatric Mobility was held in the grand ballroom of the Kensington estate—not as a rigid, cold exhibition of old-money aristocracy, but as a vibrant, joyous celebration of children, families, and second chances.

The room was filled with laughter, music, and the bright chatter of families who had benefited from the newly restructured foundation. Specialists, therapists, and parents mingled freely across the polished marble floors where Martha and Lady Eleanor’s strict rules had once reigned supreme.

Alexander stood near the French doors leading out to the garden, holding a glass of sparkling water. He was wearing a classic tuxedo, but for the first time in his life, the suit didn't feel like armor. It felt comfortable.

Across the room, Grace was kneeling on the floor near the stage, helping a little girl in bright pink braces take her first supported steps toward her parents, while Clara and Iris cheered wildly from the side lines.

Marcus Vance walked up beside Alexander, holding a small clipboard. "Everything is running smoothly, boss. The corporate restructuring is complete, the foundation endowment is fully funded, and your mother’s legal team in the Cotswolds reports she has taken up competitive gardening."

Alexander chuckled softly, watching Grace as she stood up, brushing off her emerald-green dress—the same dress she had worn on that rooftop in Mayfair. She caught his eye across the crowded room and smiled.

"Good for her," Alexander said, taking a sip of his water. "Maybe the dirt will do her some good."

"And you?" Marcus asked, glancing sideways at his longtime employer. "How does it feel to run an empire that actually has a heart?"

Alexander looked out over the ballroom—at the laughing children, at the glowing lights reflecting off the high ceilings, and finally at Grace, who was walking toward him through the crowd, her eyes shining with absolute, unfiltered joy.

"It feels like I finally stopped watching through a camera," Alexander said quietly, setting his glass down on a passing tray. "And started actually living."

He stepped forward to meet her, taking her hand in his as the music swelled around them, sealing a happy ending built not on secrets and lies, but on courage, truth, and love.
