Chapter 10 - Epilogue — The Constellation

Five years later, the autumn air was crisp and smelled of falling leaves and roasted coffee beans.
I stood on the manicured lawn of the local community center watching the annual charity fall festival. Laughter and music filled the evening air, and children ran back and forth between pumpkin displays and carnival games.
Beside me, now six years old, stood Lyra. She wore a bright pink jacket that matched her independent, joyful spirit, holding a small cotton candy cone in one hand while pointing excitedly toward the western sky.
“Look, Mama!” she called out, tugging gently on my sleeve. “There’s the brightest star in the whole sky!”
I looked up, following her small finger into the deepening twilight. High above the horizon, burning with clear, unyielding brilliance, was the constellation Lyra, its primary star casting a steady, protective light across the entire expanse of the heavens.

“I see it, my sweet girl,” I whispered softly, watching the light shine down upon us both. “I see it perfectly.”
