Chapter 10 - The Horizon

Inside the house, the warm lights flickered on, casting a golden glow through the French doors. Through the glass, we could see little Matteo stirring in his bassinet, letting out a soft, sleepy yawn as Mrs. Gable gently patted his back.

My sister Isabella was standing nearby, smiling out at us through the glass, raising her glass in an unspoken, affectionate toast.

The nightmare in Suite 12 was long behind us. The corrupt executives were behind bars, the hospital was reformed, and the boy who had once turned gray in the cold grip of corporate greed was now sleeping soundly, surrounded by people who would move mountains, shake empires, and stare down any threat on earth to keep him safe.
