Chapter 10 - The Golden Horizon

Ten years later, the morning sun poured through the massive glass windows of our home, casting a warm, golden glow across the polished oak floors.
The house was filled with the sounds of laughter and life. In the backyard, ten-year-old Julian was teaching his younger sister, Maya—our four-year-old miracle—how to kick a soccer ball across the emerald-green lawn. From the kitchen counter, the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee and pancakes mixed with the scent of blooming jasmine from the garden.
Elena walked up behind me, wrapping her arms securely around my waist and resting her chin against my shoulder as she watched our children through the window.
“You’re quiet this morning, CEO Vance,” she teased softly, pressing a gentle kiss to my cheek. “Penny for your thoughts?”
I turned around in her embrace, wrapping my arms around her and pulling her close against my chest. Her eyes still held that same radiant warmth that had captivated me on our wedding day—only now, it was deepened by a decade of shared peace, laughter, and unbreakable trust.
“I was just thinking about how far we’ve come,” I said, smiling as I brushed a strand of hair from her forehead. “Remember that morning ten years ago? The marble floor, the silver basin, the suitcases?”
Elena’s expression softened, and she rested her head against my heart. “I remember. I thought my whole world was ending. But it was actually just beginning.”
“We built this,” I murmured, looking out at the sunlit yard where our children were laughing together under a clear blue sky. “No inherited chains, no manufactured tyranny, no conditional love. Just us.”

“Just us,” she repeated, smiling brightly as she pulled me down into a tender, lingering kiss.
Outside, the golden morning light continued to stretch across the horizon, illuminating a future that was entirely, beautifully our own.
