Chapter 6 - The Corporate Rats

The boardroom of Harrison Global Enterprises was dead silent when I walked in the next morning at 9:00 AM. Richard Harrison was sitting at the head of the table, looking every bit the proud, distinguished elder statesman of the family.

"Michael!" Richard smiled warmly, standing up to greet me. "I heard you've been dealing with some personal distractions lately. Is everything alright?"

I didn't take my seat. I stood at the foot of the table, looking at the twelve board members who controlled the destiny of our company.

"Richard," I said, my voice echoing off the glass walls. "I’d like to introduce a new motion to the board. The immediate termination and arrest of our current Chairman for corporate treason, racketeering, and conspiracy."

The room erupted into murmurs. Richard’s face went pale, though he tried to maintain his composure. "Michael, have you lost your mind? If this is a joke—"

"Six years ago, you forged a letter from the woman I loved," I said, throwing the two letters onto the center of the conference table. "You told me she left me. In reality, you threatened her life because you had just signed an illegal smuggling contract with Vincent Russo to use our logistics infrastructure. You traded my family for a fifteen percent bump in our quarterly logistics revenue."

Richard’s eyes narrowed, the mask of the loving uncle completely slipping away. "You foolish boy," he hissed, leaning forward. "I built this company with your father! I did what was necessary to ensure our dominance! Do you think you can take me down with old love letters?"

"No," I replied, signaling the doors to open. "I’m taking you down with this."

Arthur Vance stepped into the room, accompanied by two federal agents from the FBI’s Corporate Fraud and Organized Crime division. They carried a stack of financial warrants.

"Richard Harrison," the lead agent said. "You are under arrest."

As they handcuffed my uncle and led him out of the building he had helped build, he turned to me, his face twisted in rage. "This isn't over, Michael! The Russos will never let you keep that girl alive!"
