Chapter 10 - A New Dawn in Busan

Six months later, the morning sun rose over Jagalki Market, painting the blue tarps and stacked vegetable crates in a warm, golden glow.

Stall number forty-two had undergone a few minor upgrades. It was now twice as large, featuring a pristine wooden display counter, a brand new weather-proof canopy, and a small, neat sign hand-painted in elegant calligraphy.

Ify Nanya stood behind the counter, smiling brightly as she handed a bag of freshly washed carrots to a regular customer. Her life had transformed completely—not only was her business thriving under the unshakeable protection of the city’s most powerful benefactor, but a deep, quiet peace had finally settled into her heart.

A few feet away, sitting on a brand-new, comfortable wooden stool, sat an eight-year-old girl with both socks pulled up perfectly, a neat backpack resting beside her, and her glasses shining brightly on her nose.

Pretty was finishing her morning rice while reading a thick textbook.

Footsteps approached.

Pretty looked up. Standing before her was a man in an immaculate black suit, ash-brown hair neatly combed, holding a small paper bag containing warm pastries from her favorite bakery.

Alex Gene smiled—a warm, genuine, completely unreserved smile that reached all the way to his eyes.

“Good morning, Pretty,” Alex said gently, handing her the bag.

“Good morning, Alex,” Pretty replied, taking the bag with a polite nod.
