Chapter 9 - A New Beginning

Months passed, and Mina’s Place became the most beloved restaurant in Dorchester. The food was incredible, the atmosphere warm, and the owner was revered by everyone in the neighborhood.
Yet, every single evening at six o'clock, the black sedan would pull up to the curb.
Dominic and Ezra sat in the corner booth—the very booth where Mina had laid the bleeding boy almost a year ago. Ezra was thriving, back in school, his cheeks rosy and his laughter filling the diner.
The line cook, an old friend Mina had hired, handled the kitchen, allowing Mina to spend her evenings sitting with the Torrios.
"You know," Dominic said one evening, gently reaching across the table to cover her hand with his. "Ezra keeps asking why you don't live at the townhouse anymore."
Mina blushed softly, looking at their joined hands. "He has school, and I have the diner to run."
"The diner closes at eight," Dominic pointed out, his dark eyes softening with a rare, tender warmth. "And the townhouse feels very empty without you."
Ezra looked up from his plate of pancakes, grinning wildly. "Please, Mina? Dad doesn't even know how to make cinnamon pies!"

Mina laughed, a sound that brought an effortless smile to Dominic’s face. "Is that an official job offer, Mr. Torrio?"
"No," Dominic said quietly, his voice laced with sincerity. "It's a request from a man who has fallen completely in love with you."
