Chapter 8 - The Fall of Vance

That night marked the end of the war.

With Julian exposed as the traitor, Dominic used the intelligence found on the lieutenant’s phone to launch a swift, decisive strike against Victor Vance. Within forty-eight hours, Vance’s entire organization was dismantled, his assets seized, and Vance himself was handed over to federal authorities with a mountain of undeniable evidence.

The city of Boston breathed a sigh of relief, though few understood what had truly happened in the dark.

A week later, Callahan’s Diner reopened. But it was no longer the rundown, dingy spot on Dorchester Avenue.

Dominic had completely remodeled it. The cracked red booths were replaced with warm leather, the dim lights swapped for inviting golden fixtures, and the kitchen upgraded with state-of-the-art equipment.

On the glass front window, gold lettering read: MINA’S PLACE.

Mina stood in the middle of the dining room, clutching the keys to the property in her hand. Dominic walked up behind her, holding two mugs of hot chocolate.

"What is this, Dominic?" she asked, tears welling in her eyes.

"It’s yours," Dominic said simply. "A real fresh start. No debts, no managers like Burkett. You are the sole owner."

"I can't possibly repay you for this..."

"You already have," Dominic said, looking deeply into her eyes. "You saved my son. And in doing so, you saved me."
