David Carter sat on a wooden bench, watching a small boy with bright brown eyes and a red baseball cap pedal furiously down the paved path on a brand-new bicycle with training wheels, laughing as the wind caught his hair.
Leo hit the brakes smoothly, sliding to a stop right in front of his father.
“Did you see me, Dad? I didn’t wobble once!” Leo beamed proudly.
David stood up, scooped his son into a tight, joyful hug, and pressed a kiss against his forehead.
