Part 2: The House That Lied

Adrian Vale didn’t ask a single question.

He simply took the flash drive from Mira’s hand and walked into his study, locking the door behind him.

Inside were hours of footage.

The smoke detector.
The bathroom camera.
The hallway audio recorder Mira had hidden inside a broken thermostat.

And Celeste’s voice—clear, sharp, confident.

“She’ll do anything if we push her far enough. Then we claim she’s unstable. The inheritance becomes controllable.”

Livia’s laughter followed like a stain.

By midnight, Adrian had called three people: a forensic analyst, a private investigator, and a judge he had defended years ago.

By dawn, the house was no longer a home. It was a secured scene.

Celeste woke to uniformed officers in her hallway.

“What is this?” she snapped. “Do you know who I am?”

One officer read calmly. “Evidence of coercion, abuse of a minor, and attempted fraud regarding a protected estate.”

Livia appeared behind her mother, suddenly smaller without her confidence.

“This is a mistake,” she whispered. “She’s lying.”

From the staircase, Mira stepped forward for the first time that morning.

“No,” she said quietly. “You just never thought I was listening.”

Celeste’s face changed. Not fear yet—something worse. Realization.

Adrian appeared behind Mira.

“I did my job as a lawyer,” he said. “Now I do my job as a father.”
