Chapter 10 - Happily Ever After

The sun was setting over the botanical gardens, casting a golden, ethereal glow across the vast expanse of blooming rose beds and towering green maples. Esme and I sat together on a wooden bench near the central fountain, sharing our picnic dinner as the evening breeze rustled the leaves overhead.
The air was sweet with the scent of jasmine and damp earth. Around us, families strolled along the winding stone paths, children laughed and chased bubbles across the grass, and the world felt entirely at peace.
Esme finished her last bite of sandwich, wiped her hands neatly on her napkin, and leaned her head comfortably against my shoulder, watching the colorful koi fish glide gracefully through the clear water of the fountain.
“Mommy?” she asked softly, her voice carrying a sweet, sleepy contentment.

“I love our life.”
I wrapped my arm around her shoulders, pulling her close as I looked out across the sunlit gardens toward the bright horizon of our future. Every storm had passed. Every shadow had been washed away by the brilliant light of truth, resilience, and unconditional love.
