Chapter 10 - A Kingdom Rebuilt in Light

Two years later, the Vale Cultural and Commercial Foundation opened the Vale Arts Center in the heart of the city Serena had claimed as her own.
The centerpiece of the main atrium was a stunning modern sculpture commissioned from an internationally renowned artist. It consisted of thousands of delicate strands of dark steel wire, woven tightly together into a massive, shimmering shield that caught the sunlight streaming through the glass roof.
At the base of the sculpture was a small bronze plaque bearing an inscription written by Serena herself:
"What is cut away does not diminish us. It only frees us to grow into something unbreakable."
On the opening night of the arts center, Serena stood in the center of the illuminated atrium. She was forty-three, radiant, powerful, and entirely at peace.
Beside her stood Marco, Paul, and a network of loyal, honest colleagues who had helped her transform a criminal empire into an instrument of civic prosperity. She was surrounded by real respect, genuine loyalty, and unshakeable authority.
