Chapter 10 - The Garden of Dreams

Two months later, the garden at the Brennan-Valleti estate was in full, glorious bloom. The air was thick with the scent of lavender, roses, and sweet clover.

A small, intimate gathering of friends stood on the manicured lawn. Walt stood dressed in a surprisingly sharp suit, acting as the honorary grandfather, while Finch stood by Corbin’s side as his best man, his posture upright and proud.

At the end of the aisle, standing under an archway woven from yellow marigolds and white roses, Corbin waited. He wore a classic black tuxedo, but his eyes were fixed entirely on the walkway.

The music shifted to a soft, acoustic melody.

First came Noel. She was the flower girl, wearing a beautiful yellow dress, a crown of daisies in her hair. She walked down the aisle with absolute confidence, tossing handfuls of colorful petals with a wide, radiant smile. When she reached the front, she didn't go to the side; she walked right up to Corbin, taking his hand for a brief moment and whispering, "She looks like an angel, Daddy."

Then, Sadi appeared.

She wore a simple, flowing white dress that caught the afternoon breeze, her dark hair pinned up softly with sprigs of fresh baby's breath. She carried a bouquet of wild blooms, but her eyes were locked entirely onto the man waiting for her at the altar.

As she reached him, Corbin took her hands, his eyes shining with a warmth that completely erased the feared Don of Chicago.

The vows were short, spoken not for the crowd, but for each other. They spoke of patience, of breaking down walls, and of the healing power of quiet things.

"I promise to spend the rest of my life keeping you safe," Corbin said, his voice echoing across the quiet fields. "And I promise to never let the dark back into our garden."

"I promise to always give you room to grow," Sadi replied, her voice steady and full of love. "And to remind you, every single day, that you are worthy of the light."

The minister smiled. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

May you like

Corbin pulled Sadi into his arms, lifting her slightly off her feet as he kissed her deeply, amidst the cheers and applause of their small family. Noel lunged forward, wrapping her arms around both of their legs, giggling as they brought her up into the embrace between them.

As the sun began to set over the Wisconsin hills, casting a warm, golden glow over the entire estate, Corbin looked down at his wife and his daughter. The fortress was gone. The enemy was defeated. The silence was broken, replaced forever by the beautiful, chaotic sound of a family reborn in the light.
