PART 2 – The Woman Who Protected What Was Never Hers

The monitoring room fell into complete silence.
Emilio couldn't take his eyes off the screen.
Patricia folded her arms and stepped closer to the girls.
"I've told you before," she said coldly. "Stop acting like spoiled little princesses."
Ellie lowered her head.
"We're sorry."
"Sorry isn't enough."
Patricia reached toward Maddie.
The little girl instinctively pulled back.
That tiny movement shattered something inside Emilio.
His daughter wasn't being stubborn.
She was terrified.
Rose quietly stepped forward again.
"Miss Patricia," she said softly, "they've already apologized."
Patricia's eyes flashed.
"I said stay out of this."
Without warning, she shoved Rose backward.
The young housekeeper stumbled into the edge of the coffee table but managed to keep her balance.
The girls gasped.
"Rose!"
Patricia spun toward them.
"Quiet!"
Neither child moved.
Emilio's hands curled into fists.
Beside him, the head of security whispered,
"Sir..."
"Not yet."
He needed to know everything.
Patricia looked around before lowering her voice.
"You think your father loves you?"
Neither girl answered.
"He's always working."
She smiled—a smile so empty it chilled the room.
"And soon... this house will belong to me."
Maddie's eyes filled with tears.
"Daddy loves us."
Patricia laughed.
"No, sweetheart."
She leaned down until she was inches from Maddie's face.
"He barely notices you."
Rose couldn't stay silent anymore.
"That's enough."
Patricia stood upright.
"You really think you're part of this family?"
"No."
Rose answered calmly.
"But those girls deserve kindness."
Patricia scoffed.
"They're weak because of you."
She grabbed Maddie's stuffed rabbit from the couch.
"You love this thing so much?"
Before anyone could react—
She ripped it open.
Cotton exploded across the floor.
Maddie cried out.
"No!"
She dropped to her knees, desperately gathering the stuffing with trembling hands.
Ellie wrapped both arms around her little sister.
Rose knelt beside them.
"It's okay."
"We can fix him."
Patricia rolled her eyes.
"Pathetic."
She turned toward the hallway.
"And don't bother serving me lunch until this mess is cleaned."
As soon as Patricia disappeared upstairs, Rose pulled a tiny sewing kit from a nearby cabinet.
Emilio blinked.
She had done this before.
Without saying a word, Rose patiently began stitching the rabbit back together.
Her fingers moved carefully, almost lovingly.
Maddie sniffled.
"I'm sorry..."
Rose smiled.
"You have nothing to apologize for."
Ellie looked around to make sure Patricia was gone.
Then she whispered something that made Emilio's heart stop.
"Thank you for protecting us again."
Again.
The word echoed inside the monitoring room.
Again.
Not today.
Not once.
Again.
Rose gently brushed the girl's hair behind her ear.
"I promised your mommy."
Emilio froze.
His late wife.
Rose continued quietly.
"The day she was in the hospital..."
"...she held my hand."
"She asked me to stay with you if anything ever happened."
Tears filled Emilio's eyes.
He had never known.
Rose had never mentioned it.
Never asked for recognition.
Never reminded him of the promise she'd been carrying for five years.
She simply kept it.
Every single day.
The security chief quietly placed a folder on Emilio's lap.
"We investigated Miss Patricia after you asked us."
Inside were photographs.
Bank transfers.
Private messages.
One document after another.
Patricia had enormous gambling debts.
She had secretly contacted lawyers about Emilio's assets.
She had even searched for ways to remove long-term household employees after marriage.
Rose's name appeared first.
Everything Patricia had said...
Every accusation...
Every whisper...
Had been designed to eliminate the one person standing between her and complete control.
Emilio slowly stood.

His voice was calm.
"Let's end this."
