Chapter 10 - A New Beginning

One year later.
The sun was setting over the coastal cliffs behind Vale Manor, painting the sky in deep shades of gold, rose, and amber. The old, gloomy mansion had been completely renovated—the cold marble halls now filled with warm timber, bright artwork, floral arrangements, and the constant, lively sound of laughter.
Milo’s paper bird—the frail, wrinkled piece of paper that had sparked the unraveling of the conspiracy—now rested safely inside a glass frame on the mantlepiece in the family living room, right beside a photograph of Maya smiling in her lab.
I walked out onto the stone terrace overlooking the ocean, holding a cup of warm tea. The gentle breeze carried the scent of jasmine from the gardens below. My grandmother was happily living in a cozy cottage on the estate grounds, surrounded by flower gardens she tended every morning. My brother was thriving at a top music and arts academy in the city.
A pair of warm arms wrapped gently around my waist from behind. Adrian rested his chin on my shoulder, breathing in the quiet evening air with me.
“What are you thinking about?” Adrian asked softly, kissing my cheek.
“I was thinking about the day I was forced to get on my knees to scrub that marble floor,” I said with a soft smile, turning around in his arms to face him. “I thought it was the worst day of my life.”
“It was the day my life finally began,” Adrian said, looking into my eyes with unconditional devotion. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small, elegant velvet box.
He didn't kneel out of servitude or force. He knelt out of love.
“Nora,” Adrian said softly, opening the box to reveal a beautiful, timeless ring set with a sapphire as deep as the ocean. “You saved my son, you saved my heart, and you brought light back into a home that was dark for so long. Will you do us the honor of becoming my wife and Milo’s mother?”
Before I could even answer, the terrace doors swung open and Milo ran out, holding a big bunch of freshly picked wildflowers from the garden.
“Say yes, Nora!” Milo cheered, giggling as he handed me the flowers. “We already made the cake!”
I laughed through tears of pure happiness, kneeling down to hug Milo tightly while holding Adrian’s hand.

“Yes,” I whispered, looking between the billionaire who loved me and the little boy who had given me his heart. “A thousand times, yes.”
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the quiet estate was filled not with silence, nor with pain, but with the sweetest symphony of all—the laughter of a family restored, whole, and loved forever.
