Chapter 10 - The Light of Tomorrow

Ten years later, the Lincoln Park oak tree stood taller and wider, its golden autumn leaves rustling gently in the cool afternoon breeze.

Lily, now fifteen, was laughing loudly as she missed a catch, while Emma—fifteen months younger in age, though matching her sister stride for stride—scored a triumphant point with her signature stubborn little chin held high and those unmistakable emerald eyes sparkling with mischief and joy.
Victor stepped up beside me, holding a pair of hot coffees and adjusting his coat against the crisp breeze. "They grow up fast, boss."
