Chapter 10 - Forever in His Hands

Five years later, the autumn air was crisp and bright along the banks of the Hudson River.

Inside the expansive kitchen of the Vale estate, the atmosphere was filled with the sounds of laughter and the clinking of ceramic mugs. Sophia stood by the marble island, wearing a comfortable cashmere sweater, laughing as a pair of tiny, energetic hands tugged at the hem of her trousers.

"Mama! Look! Car go fast!"

A three-year-old boy with dark, unruly hair and bright, expressive eyes zoomed a miniature toy Mercedes across the polished floor, making screeching engine noises with his mouth.

Sophia scooped the little boy up into her arms, pressing a kiss to his forehead. "Leo, if you keep making race car noises in the kitchen, Daddy is going to start teaching you how to rebuild real carburetors before you can even walk."

A deep, amused chuckle echoed from the doorway.

Roman walked into the kitchen, his suit jacket discarded, his tie loosened. Sophia leaned back against Roman’s solid chest, resting her hand over his. On her left ring finger, the sapphire ring caught the afternoon sunlight, glowing with a brilliant, steadfast light.

Mercer Auto Repair was now thriving in Queens, operating as one of the most prestigious custom restoration shops in the country, run jointly by Sophia and a reformed, dedicated Eric, who had finally earned back his self-respect and his place in the family. The underworld still whispered the name Roman Vale with a mixture of fear and awe, but within his own kingdom, Roman ruled with mercy, love, and absolute loyalty.

Sophia looked up at her husband, her heart overflowing with a profound, lasting peace. The girl who had collapsed on the floor of a Manhattan skyscraper, bruised and broken, was gone. In her place stood a woman who had faced the darkness, conquered the storm, and found her forever in the hands of the most dangerous man in the city.

"We made it," Sophia whispered, smiling against his chest.

"We did," Roman agreed, tightening his arms around his world. "And we're never looking
